LIFTING THE UPPER LID

One of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries is the eyelid procedure called blepharoplasty.  Many people have this surgery to remove excess skin, wrinkles, and fat deposits that impart a tired look to the upper and lower eyelids.  After surgery, faces project a more alert, less tired appearance.  On the other hand, some older persons look to surgical correction of their upper eyelids because the excess of upper eyelid skin is so pronounced that the skin drapes over the eye and interferes with vision.  Upper lid blepharoplasty can be conducted on an out-patient basis to yield lasting results.  If the loss of vision is significant, surgical correction may be covered by insurance.
